WATERING PLANTS
The plants always need water.
However, not all have the same needs and these vary depending on the
season and time. An irrigation suffocates the roots and any excess water
shortages can also be harmful. It watering is therefore a matter of dosage
and know how to do at the right time!
A good amount of water?
The
amount of water that must be provided to a plant depends on several
factors: their natural needs , the amount of rainwater that has been given
to the texture of the soil , if sandy or clay , it is difficult to give
exact measurements : a plant can manage without irrigation, while another
must be given at least 100 to 200 liters of water per year.
It is important to report on the needs of the plants you plan to install
or have already planted . Give priority to resisting drought if your soil
is sandy or where the region receives less rain than elsewhere . In humid
areas like the bottom of a valley, or near rivers, not try to cultivate
plants that have low water needs .
Lack of irrigation
If the leaves of a plant are soft , irrigation is urgent. With experience,
we realize the lack of irrigation : the leaves lose their luster, they are
more dull than usual. Plants wither very often need more frequent and
regular irrigations: increase amount to each irrigation in clay soil or
increase their frequency.
In trees
In trees and shrubs, the need for water is harder, because the branches do
not bend. A premature yellowing of leaves, an abnormally limited growth,
even a bloom out of season, are signs of a lack of water.
Some plants manifested in a very strange way the lack of water. For
example tomatoes for water roll their leaves.
Too much water is a risk?
Watering
properly is not over water. Many plants suffer in soil soaked generous
watering. This is the case of roses, which will develop root diseases and
then die. Hedges and evergreens such as eleagnos (Eleagnus) who will take
on a yellow tint. If excess last long, they will lose their leaves and
die. We must reduce the risks, touch the ground before watering again,
even if it is damp to the touch, wait a little longer.
Silver foliage plants may turn yellow when they receive too much water.
Often become less hairy, with less gray appearance. The stems are slender,
as starry. Their tissues suffer from aphids and numerous biting insects
that prey on your weakness.
